Our Impact
Modernising End-User Computing for 31,000 Banking Staff
Modernising the workforce technology estate for a large banking population, on budget and without service interruption.
Enterprise banking programme | Workforce of 31,000-plus staff | Meaningful cost reduction delivered
The Challenge
A major Australian bank was operating end-user computing infrastructure that had not been substantially modernised in seven years. Licensing costs had grown 23 per cent year-on-year, device refresh cycles were creating a growing tail of unsupported endpoints, and the hybrid-work patterns accelerated by the pandemic had exposed critical gaps in remote access architecture.
The CTO required a programme to modernise the full EUC estate for 31,000 staff across retail branches, corporate offices, and contact centres, with a firm requirement of zero service interruption and a measurable reduction in the total cost of ownership within the programme timeframe.
The Precision Approach
- 1
Precision Consulting delivered the Programme Director function, owning the full lifecycle from architecture design through to wave-by-wave deployment. The programme was structured in six geographic waves, sequenced to align with the bank's branch network operating calendar and minimise customer-facing disruption.
- 2
A vendor consolidation strategy reduced the EUC stack from eleven separate vendors to four strategic partners, renegotiating enterprise agreements that delivered AU$12 million in annualised licensing savings. Device-as-a-service models replaced outright purchase for the branch network, converting capital expenditure to a predictable operational expense with built-in refresh cycles.
- 3
A change network of 200 branch champions and 45 dedicated floor-walkers supported the rollout, achieving a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +62 from staff within ninety days of each wave completing, the highest EUC transformation NPS recorded in the bank's history.
